Walking...

The Alps are justifiably one of the most stunning mountain ranges in the world and are renowned for the sheer diversity of striking scenery reaching from the high white peaks to the forest covered valley floor pocketed with quaint, alpine villages. A tremendous bonus is the sheer accessibility the system of chair lifts and cable cars creates allowing both climbers and and those looking for gentler trekking to enjoy far reaching views and a close proximity to the mountain tops. The celebrated Chamonix Valley is arguably the most beautiful and exciting base from which to explore these mountains with its backdrop of soaring snowy summits and sweeping glaciers. From our chalet, situated at 1250m overlooking the pretty alpine village of Les Houches, we can offer a series of self-guided walks of varying grades enabling you to experience all the wonderful aspects this region has to offer - ancient glacial lakes, lush forests and flower- filled pastures, quiet river trails and an ascent to the " Mer de Glace"- quite literally the "sea of ice". The Mont Blanc massif dominates the landscape and you will enjoy marvelous valley views, returning each evening to the comfort of Chalet Bergerie with home-cooked food and homely surrounds. With many other options on offer in this vibrant location, the itinerary can be tailored to suit your needs. Come and discover for yourselves why people return again and again to this magic spot..
